Stompetoren Grand Cru is a dutch Gouda aged for about 18 months. The cheese matures in the Remijn family’s ripening facility under perfect humidity that allows the cheese to stay moist and creamy. Where it also develops those calcium lactate crystals everyone loves.
Stompetoren Grand Cru is made with the highest quality milk, from cows that graze on beautiful lush pastures. Each wheel has a beautiful sweetness with notes of caramel, butterscotch and cantaloupe. Stompetoren is a staple in our cheese case. It’s a crowd pleaser without being boring.
Monger’s Tip:
I enjoy Stompetoren with Napoli (from our charcuterie case). The rich slightly smokey taste of the salami pairs well with the sweetness of the cheese. Don't forget the mustard and cornichons! Many people don’t think of gouda when making risotto but in the fall it's great grated over a delicata squash risotto.
